Community Effort for Transparency Regarding the Proposed Sewer Fee
Residents have raised concerns over a proposed ordinance introduced by the mayor and council on April 20th that changes the way sewer fees get determined for residents and businesses. On April 28th, Bloomfield Mayor Mundell notified the public on social media of a virtual info session "with the Township’s financial professionals to provide additional information on the proposed sewer fee collection changes and answer resident questions." Questions must be submitted by email to the Township by May 4th to infosession@bloomfieldtwpnj.com.
The Bloomfield for Progress slate believes that transparency and community engagement are crucial pillars of governing and should be prioritized before voting on major decisions. We share the community's concerns for what feels like a rushed, predetermined decision. We will be attending the webinar to track updates and are offering a tool to keep public questions and answers easily accessible post info session.
Concerned residents are encouraged to submit their question(s) as instructed to the township and to cc their elected representatives. After emailing the Township, please drop your question(s) below. We will loop back to see what questions were answered, which ones weren't, and determine what new questions arise.
